our core values

People matter to God

Luke 19:10  "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Nothing is more precious to God than a human being. The Bible tells us that this was His greatest creation and that He created them in His own image.

The Bible further tells us that when sin (choosing to go against God and His Word) took over mankind, God provided a solution: His Son Jesus Christ, who became a man and died on a cross for all of our sins.

To God, people matter and lost people (those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ) are His highest priority of grace and love. He wants lost people found.

Our mission statement reflects this value :  "Whatever it takes: Connecting people to God and each other through Christ"

Prayer is the primary work of the people of God

Philippians 4:6-7  "6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Everything that matters is powered by prayer.

Prayer isn't earning God's attention or favor; it is having a conversational relationship with Him. It's allowing His heart to take over our heart.

We will seek to grow in our passion and love for God and the supernatural result will be a church of deep prayer.

Everything we have belongs to God

1 Chronicles 29:14  "But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand."

We are only asset managers of what God gives to us. There is no hitch to a hearse, and both rich and poor people wind up in a cemetery. So there has to be more to life than getting more stuff!

At FCC, we realize that our building, our people and our resources are all given to us by God. We don't own it and we don't want to act like we do. The Kingdom of Jesus Christ is far greater than any local church or denomination. It includes loyal followers of Jesus all over the world. We are serious about building the Kingdom. We want to give away to other churches many of the blessings God has given to us. We rejoice when churches and Christians outside Faith Community prosper and succeed--and we are thrilled when God allows us to have a small part in the great good He is doing for them.

Knowing and obeying God's Word is fundamental to all true success

Joshua 1:8  "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

Faith Community lives by the Bible. The Bible is God's Word and the only blueprint for what we believe and do. Bible teaching permeates every program because we want to know and understand God's Word.

Yet, we understand that the Bible can only be "known" through living an obedient life. As what was once declared, "The Bible wasn't given to increase our knowledge but to change our behavior." The Bible must be lived out in our lives because we believe the Bible is both timeless and timely, relevant to the common needs of all people at all times and to specific problems of modern life.

Completing the Great Commission will require the mobilization of every fully devoted disciple

Matthew 28:19  "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"

Faith Community desires to affect the lives of everyone the Lord has placed within our reach. We look outward to serve non-Christians and the unchurched in order to reach them for Jesus Christ. This is woven into everything we do. It requires a constant awareness of our changing culture and connecting with people as they are and where they are. This is done to fulfill our purpose to make more disciples for Jesus Christ.

From there, we look to our world and realize that what God is doing locally is a small part of a bigger picture. Reaching the world with the message of Jesus Christ requires commitment, strategy and the power of God. Our part is getting involved where God is at work throughout the world. We partner with missionary endeavors throughout the world. We encourage our people to go and serve in short-term capacities and in full-time ministries. We give intentionally to those who are reaching the world for Christ. And finally, we remember that reaching the world will be done one person at a time.

Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish nothing

1 Corinthians 2:4-5  "4My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power."

Faith Community Church is committed to operating under the control of the Holy Spirit. When this is happening, Christ is magnified and people are transformed.

We understand that busyness and external results are not the measure of anointing. Therefore we will seek to determine where God is at work and become a part of it. We will wait until God's work creates an organic movement that enables the Body of Christ to accomplish things that can only be credited to God.

Achieving God's purposes means taking faith-filled risks, and this always involves change

Hebrews 11:6  "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

There are no sacred traditions.

"New" does not always mean "better".

God-inspired change will be uncomfortable and dynamic.

We are determined to seek those risks that will bring great glory to God and bring the most people into His Kingdom.
